Soon a business school in Perpignan!

No need to go to Montpellier or Toulouse to enter a business school! The IES of Perpignan should open next October. It will be the first private business school in the department (there is already a public sector at the University of Perpignan, the IAE, Institute of Business Administration).

The IES will settle in in the center of Perpignan, in place of the old Rive Gauche cinema, near the Halles Vauban. “I really fell in love with this place.“, explains the director of the IES school network Boris Mazurier. “For this fall, we will have between twenty and forty students but within a few years, our objective is to reach 500 students. We succeeded in Rouen, our first school opened in 2015“. Today, IES schools also exist in Les Sables d’Olonne, in Vendée, and also soon in Arles, in Bouches-du-Rhône.

2,900 euros for registration in the first year

The hour of medium-sized cities has come“, rejoices for his part Laurent Gauze, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Pyrénées-Orientales. “In our regional capitals, rents have become very expensive and the IES must make it possible to attract young people from other departments but also to offer training to young people from the department..”

Tuition fees will be 2,900 euros for first-year students4,900 euros for the second year and “_then for the last three years, the students have nothing to pay if they choose the work-study program. It is then the OPCO, the organization that finances the work-study which covers the costs of the students. The work-study students also receive a salary defined in the agreement,” explains the big boss Boris Mazurier.

The director of the IES network also affirms that the school “trains many HRDs, marketing directors with constantly rising salaries“. Information difficult to verify. As for tuition fees, if they are lower than most other French business schools, here again it is difficult to compare as long as lessons have not started.

The merchants of the Rive Gauche gallery delighted

The merchants of Perpignan do not hide their joy. Jordi Danoy runs the Vauban brewery, near the future school. “I bought the brewery thirteen years ago and, unfortunately, the cinema closed a year later. I obviously lost some of my evening clientele. It is really good news if this school arrives. We are going to think about formulas to offer student breakfasts and why not reinstall pinball machines?“The other merchants also welcome the arrival of this school in an inconspicuous Left Bank gallery today.

More broadly, these are hundreds of students expected to arrive over the next few years in the center of Perpignan. In addition to the IES, school 42 (computer programming school) should open place Catalonia at the beginning of next year with eventually 450 young people. As of September, the transfer of the Faculty of Law from the Moulin à Vent to the Mailly Campus will be completed: 1,500 young people will study in the historic center from Perpignan, between the Réal and St-Jacques districts. “It is interesting for the housing offer. This should make it possible to accelerate the rehabilitation of apartments and the creation of new student residences.,” says Mayor Louis Aliot.”This IES school is an additional offer also for our young people. From now on we will work to try to open a medical school.”
