For Sunday: intensification of the heat

A new influx of air will set in over the country from Sunday with a movement of the cold drop towards the French coasts, to the west. “There will be a heat pump phenomenon, which will bring up the very hot air from the Iberian Peninsula, especially first on the western side of the country”, explained François Gourand. The 40 degree mark could be reached locally in the Southwest. Météo France predicts 37°C in Toulouse, 35°C in Bordeaux and Perpignan, 33°C in Montélimar, still 28°C in Brest, and finally 29°C in Paris.

Sunday is likely to be very hot but the peak, nationally, could occur on Monday. In effect, “France could experience one of the hottest days in its history on Monday”warned François Gourand.
