The 88-year-old Montrealer confirmed everything on Twitter on Tuesday.

“I haven’t worked for the Chicago Blackhawks since July 1, since I decided to move on. I still love hockey and would like to continue to stay involved in the sport.”

Recall that Bowman’s son, Stan Bowman, resigned as general manager of the “Hawks” last year, in the wake of the Brad Aldrich affair.

Scotty Bowman is considered one of the greatest hockey men of all time, having won nine Stanley Cups, including five at the helm of the Montreal Canadiens.

The Verdun native also worked on the staff of the St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings.
