The artistic director of the Opéra de Québec, Jean-François Lapointe, unveiled the show on Tuesday that will close the programming for its 2021-2022 season. It is Don Giovanni by Mozart, which will be presented to lovers of lyrical art next spring in the Louis-Fréchette room of the Grand Théâtre de Québec.
By way of a press release, Jean-François Lapointe said he was delighted to present to the public of Quebec Quebec artists who distinguished themselves on the biggest stages in the world: “This original production of Mozart’s masterpiece, conceived entirely in Québec, will feature soloists who are currently pursuing a brilliant international career, notably Philippe Sly in the title role as well as Julie Boulianne and Florie Valiquette. “
Faithful to its mission of making local talents shine, the staging is by Bertrand Alain, with sets by Julie Lévesque and costumes by Emily Wahlman, while Jean-Marie Zeitouni will conduct the Orchester symphonique de Québec.
