Laurentians: a woman and a little girl lose their lives in a violent swerve

A woman and a little girl lost their lives late Monday afternoon in an impressive accident in Labelle, in the Laurentians.

It was around 4:30 p.m. that the tragedy occurred. According to initial information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the vehicle first left the road in the central reservation of Route 117 North before rolling over. The car ended up upside down on the other side of an overpass.

Two people were in the vehicle, a woman and a child.

“The 8-year-old girl who was seated in the back was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver, a 37-year-old woman, was transported to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries”, a indicated Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the SQ.

The circumstances surrounding this accident being unclear, two reconstructionists were sent to the scene to understand what happened.
