Opposed to Norway, England did not go into detail and largely won (8-0), Monday July 11, as part of Euro 2022. In Brighton, the organizing country is pleased, taking advantage of the largesse of a listless Norwegian defence.
This success, the largest in the history of the European championships (women and men combined), was mainly acquired in the first period. In a meeting with a scenario strangely similar to the French outing against Italy (5-1 Sunday), six goals were scored in the first act. In order, a penalty from Georgia Stanway (12th) then goals from Lauren Hemp (15th), Ellen White (29th, 41st) and Beth Mead (34th, 38th) sealed the match’s fate.

The incoming Alessia Russo also participated in the celebration (66th), before a new goal from Mead (81st). This resounding victory qualifies the Three Lionesses for the quarter-finals. They will find there a member of group B, which can be Germany or Spain, in the grips Tuesday.
This knockdown does not bury Norwegian ambitions, since Ada Hegerberg and hers had beaten Austria in the first match. But it will be necessary to have strong backs to recover from such a humiliation. They are currently third, level on points with the Austrians. They will therefore have to win at all costs against Northern Ireland, beaten early Monday evening by Austria (2-0), to qualify.
