As the fires multiply in France, several mayors have canceled the fireworks planned for the national holiday of July 14.

In Alès (Gard), the party almost turned tragic. On the evening of Saturday July 9, firecracker fire broke out and caused numerous flames. Fanned by the wind, the fire gained ground and threatened homes. There were no casualties but 5,000 square meters went up in smoke. Sunday, July 10, on the still hot ashes, the deputy mayor does not lose his temper. “Irresponsible people threw fireworks when it was strictly forbidden”he complains.

In the Gard, where the departures of fires are multiplying and where the risk will increase, should the fireworks of July 14 be maintained? The town hall decided in Nîmes. There is no question of taking the slightest risk. Throughout the south of France, which will be overheated next week, many municipalities have also chosen to do without fireworks for the national holiday.
