The gendarmerie had launched an appeal for witnesses after the worrying disappearance this Thursday of an 81-year-old hiker suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. A search had also been organized this Saturday, July 9, with volunteers, to try to find her, without success.
It was ultimately hikers who saw her in the area and contacted the Val-Cenis gendarmerie on Sunday July 10. The gendarmes immediately went to meet her and found her in the afternoon.
Safe and sound after 3 nights out
The octogenarian, suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, was conscious when the gendarmes arrived. The 81-year-old hiker is safe and sound, she was airlifted to a hospital center, given her age and the time spent outside.
She hadn’t gotten to the point she had agreed with her husband on Thursday after their walk. “After three nights out, it’s a huge relief” explains his son to France Bleu Pays de Savoie. “We would like to thank everyone who participated in the research.“.
