“Education is certainly our first common goodsays the Prime Minister. In France, we have an education system that knows how to produce excellence, but it is undoubtedly one of those that most reproduces inequalities..” Elisabeth Borne then underlined the recruitment difficulties of French companies. “Clearly, our education system is not training the skills our economy needs”declares the head of government.

“We must continue to maintain fundamental knowledge: reading, writing, counting and respecting others and at the same time train young people in new fundamental knowledge such as computer coding, which is becoming essential in our society.”

“We must continue to hold the objective of excellencecontinues Elisabeth Borne, but I am convinced that we have a profound transformation of our education system to do to allow everyone to reveal their talents. We must allow everyone to discover their own talents, their strengths, to overcome their weaknesses.

Elisabeth Borne emphasizes that “teachers are at the heart of this considerable challenge” and therefore that a “huge approach to upgrading the teaching profession is essential and we must rethink this profession with those first concerned: the teachers themselves”.

“We cannot ask National Education to carry everything on its owninsists Elisabeth Borne. Around the school, communities and associations must mobilize to help our young people find their way. This is one of the subjects on which we are going to launch consultations in each territory at the start of the school year. The goal is to build the education system of tomorrow that brings excellence, equal opportunities and attention to each child.”
