(Bruxelles) La chanteuse belge Angèle, qui a vendu 1,5 million d’exemplaires de son premier album Brol, a offert un avant-goût du second jeudi dans un single intitulé Bruxelles je t’aime.
Le nouvel album est attendu dans six semaines comme le suggère un sous-titre au début du clip dévoilé jeudi en fin d’après-midi : « Arrivée prévue le 10 décembre ».
La vidéo la montre dans un train la ramenant de Paris, chahutant avec des enfants, heureuse de rejoindre Bruxelles.
Angèle chante son amour pour sa ville natale. Même si « on n’a pas les tours de New York, on n’a pas de lumière du jour six mois dans l’année. On n’a pas Beaubourg, ni la Seine. On n’est pas la ville de l’amour, mais bon vous voyez… », fredonne-t-elle.
La production, voix acidulée sur fond de rythme électro, rappelle les succès du premier album, notamment « Balance ton quoi », un titre évoquant le mouvement #metoo qui a consacré Angèle comme une des nouvelles porte-voix du féminisme.
« Bruxelles je t’aime m’est venue lors du premier confinement […]. It was when I realized that I was going to stay away from my city for a little while that this declaration of love was born, ”explains the 25-year-old artist in a press release.
She slips a little political message into this single by saying that it is opposed – like the vast majority of the Belgian population – to a possible split in the country between Dutch and French speakers.
“It would be the worst nightmare […] I lived my best stories in French and Flemish ”, she sings, before releasing:“ Dank u Brussel ”(“ Thank you Brussels ”).
His album Brol released in 2018 sold 1.5 million copies worldwide, two-thirds of which only in France, according to the agency Five Oh, which manages Angèle’s communication. This million sales in France has earned it the “double diamond” certification, a rare thing.
Brol was honored as “revelation album” of the year at the Victoires de la musique in 2019.
The singer, who has 3 million subscribers on Instagram, her favorite network, is also a regular at sold-out concerts. the Brol Tour ended in February 2020 with four sold-out dates in Paris.
More than 375,000 people have seen her in concert on about sixty dates, mainly in France and Belgium, her management company estimated last year about this tour.
