Fired by the Montreal Alouettes just two days ago, Khari Jones didn’t take long to come out of his silence.

Hired as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2018, Jones inherited the head coaching job in June 2019.
His performance had impressed the team leaders. At the end of his first season at the helm of the Alouettes, Jones signed a three-year extension.
However, things had gotten a bit worse since the start of the current season. After four games and a record of one win and three losses, he was let go in favor of general manager Danny Maciocia, who will take over on the sidelines until the end of the campaign.
On Twitter on Friday, Jones expressed his disappointment at not being able to accomplish the mission he had given himself.
“Thank you to all the players, coaches and staff of the Montreal Alouettes. I’m disappointed with how it ended, but I enjoyed my time as head coach of the Alouettes. We found a way to win when everyone was against us. We played with passion and joy and we fought every game. »
He added that “We made the playoffs the two years I was the head coach, when there were changes in the ownership of the team and many imponderables. I am proud of every player on our team. Also, a big thank you to the fans and the city of Montreal. We really appreciated your passion and dedication in the stands. »
He ends by saying that he will miss exploring the city and that he leaves “grateful for the opportunity he has been given to lead this team. »
