Millions of Ukrainians have fled their country since the start of the war. Despite the ongoing conflict, some now wish to return home to reunite with their families. About forty refugees settled in Vendée decided to make the return trip.
A few hours into her journey to return to Ukraine, a young woman organizes the final preparations and the meal for the trip. For four months, she slept with her children in a room in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie (Vendée). She now wants to leave, to find her loved ones. “My son goes to school in September, and at home we start school at the age of six, and it’s very important for him too”she explains.
With her French family, she leaves to join a bus with 39 of her compatriots. Like her, they decided to return to Ukraine, despite the war. “I know the situation there. I am very afraid to return, but my love for my country is stronger”, says one of the passengers. The bus should take two days to reach Ukraine.
