if the measures of the flash mission “work, we will extend them”, announces the Minister of Health

The flash mission measures put in place to allow emergencies to pass the summer could settle in the long term. “If it works, we will extend them”, said François Braun, Minister of Health and Prevention, Friday July 8 on France Inter. The Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, has retained the 41 proposals of the Braun report to unclog emergencies this summer, in particular the new filtering system.

>> Flash mission on emergencies: “These recommendations are distressing and put the population in danger” says emergency physician Christophe Prudhomme

“All the measures are accompanied by an evaluation of their effectiveness during the three summer months. During these three months, we will have to check the effectiveness of these measures. If they work, if they work, we will extend”he assured.

For François Braun, it is the health system in general that is in difficulty: “Emergencies are a bit like the epicenter of a much more general problem. We talk about an emergency crisis. It’s easy, it’s simplistic. But behind it, there are difficulties in town, there are difficulties in the hospital. It also concerns maternities, psychiatry. There is a general malaise in our health system”he explained.

Several hospital doctors have warned of the potential risks of a tragedy this summer. “People will be taken care of”assures François Braun. “It’s impossible to say that there won’t be any tragedies. There are some even when the emergency services are open, unfortunately. But in any case, we are doing everything necessary.”he said.

The Minister of Health will bring together, as of next week, representatives of doctors, “liberal and hospitable together”.
