Faced with the resumption of the Covid-19 epidemic, wearing a mask will again be compulsory in public transport in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), from Monday July 11.

From Monday July 11, wearing a mask will again be compulsory in public transport in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). Buses, trams: all public transport in the metropolis will be concerned. “It is a good initiative”, says a resident. On the Côte d’Azur, the virus is circulating strongly again. With 1,401 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the metropolis of Nice is well above the national average.

With the summer and the arrival of tourists, transport is often crowded. “There are a lot of people who are not going to wear it, we know that”explains a woman. “It avoids contagion, it’s essential. I’m 86 and I don’t want to have the Covid”, adds another resident. Since the start of the pandemic, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, has often been at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19. The municipal decree which makes the mask compulsory in transport extends until July 31.
