After her general policy speech to the deputies, Elisabeth Borne addressed the senators on Wednesday July 6. The Prime Minister was less heckled.

On Wednesday July 6, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne addressed the deputies and then the senators during her general policy speech. “Here (in the Senate)Elisabeth Borne’s speech was received much more peacefully than in the National Assembly”, explains journalist Diane Karcher-Mourgues, live from the Senate, in Paris, Wednesday, July 6. But for all that, the senators did not spare their criticism of the government’s policy.

The Prime Minister said she wanted to work in consultation. In her speech, she proposed that parliamentary work on certain texts could begin in the Senate, rather than in the National Assembly. “It will be much more accomplished texts that will be presented to the Assembly, which is much more stormy and divided”says Diane Karcher-Mourgues. “Senators are still awaiting answers on how the Prime Minister and the government plan to work with them over the next few years”concludes the journalist.
