We admire in Périgord Vert at the Cave of Villars, directed by Catherine Birckel-Versaveaud, an almost mythological scene, echoing what we can observe on the walls of the cave of Lascaux: a human representation. An incredible scene featuring a bison facing one of our ancestors. The bison, head down, seems to rush at the man. The latter, knees bent, arms outstretched, is about to fight. In all the prehistoric art of the Upper Palaeolithic, only two rock scenes of this type are known: that of Lascaux, and therefore that of Villars.
The Cave of Villars is open to visitors in July-August from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
