La carrière internationale de C.R.A.Z.Y. est loin d’être terminée. Dix-sept ans après sa parution au Québec, le long métrage de Jean-Marc Vallée profitera d’une première sortie en salles au Japon.

Le drame du regretté cinéaste prendra l’affiche dans « au moins » une dizaine de salles le 29 juillet à Tokyo, Kyoto, notamment, confirme le distributeur Fine Films.
Dans un communiqué, Maki Kato, acheteuse chez Fine Films, indique que l’entreprise a déjà assuré la distribution de deux longs métrages de Jean-Marc Vallée, Dallas Buyers Club et Café de Flore. « Nous sommes très heureux d’avoir finalement la chance de présenter [C.R.A.Z.Y.] Japanese audiences who I think will be very excited,” she says.
Distributed in the United States by Samuel Goldwyn Films, CRAZY will also be relayed by HBO Max.
Family chronicle depicting the tense relationship between a father (Michel Côté) and his son (Marc-André Grondin) in the heart of the 1970s, CRAZY will even be relaunched in theaters a second time in certain countries where it was released, notably in France, on August 31. It will then be available on DVD and Blu-Ray starting September 7.
The film was also sold in Spain, Denmark, Taiwan and Estonia.
The restoration of the film was supervised by Jean-Marc Vallée before his death in December 2021.
