He later blamed forgetting to eat or drink water for the incident.

Carlos Santana, 74, was doing well on Wednesday after being taken to the emergency department of McLaren Clarkston Hospital, northwest of Detroit, for observation on Tuesday evening, his manager Michael Vrionis said in a statement.

The musician wrote on Facebook just after midnight that he was resting. “I forgot to eat and drink water, so I got dehydrated and passed out,” he explained.

It’s unclear at this time when Carlos Santana will resume touring, but the show scheduled for Wednesday at the Star Lake Pavilion in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, has been postponed. The musician and his band are on tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.

There are 21 dates left on the tour by the end of August. Subsequently, Carlos Santana ― the artist behind hits such as Oye Como Va and Black Magic Woman ― will return to Las Vegas for his residency at the House of Blues.

In December, Carlos Santana canceled a number of performances in Las Vegas after undergoing an unspecified heart procedure. He had also been diagnosed with COVID-19 positive in February, which forced him to cancel some dates.
