Some new faces and some personalities already installed. Monday, July 4, the composition of the new government was unveiled. In front of his finally constituted team, Emmanuel Macron, after the slap of the legislative elections, evoked in the introduction of the Council of Ministers a “exceptional period also taking into account the political situation of the country“. In total, the new government has no less than 42 ministers, far from the tight team initially promised.
In detail, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne is in charge of ecological and energy planning, led respectively by Christophe Béchu, a close friend of Édouard Philippe, and Agnès Pannier-Runacher. In Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire remains in office. Olivia Grégoire is now in charge of SMEs and Tourism.
Roland Lescure is appointed Deputy Minister in charge of Industry, and Jean-Noël Barrot is appointed Deputy Minister for Digital Transition and Telecommunications. Damien Abad, targeted by an investigation for attempted rape, is meanwhile dismissed from the government. Among the new faces, Olivier Klein, who came from the left, was appointed Minister Delegate for Cities and Housing.
