It was in 2017 that producers proposed to TF1 the project of a series around an investigator with high intellectual potential: HPI. The front page is interested, but the character of the investigator will evolve. Audrey Fleurot has not yet been chosen to play the one who will be called Morgane Alvaro.

It is the screenwriter Alice Breugnot who will create the solar character of a single housekeeper with solar children.

“Morgane, who was not called Morgane at the time, was an Asperger profile, so really another type of HPI. Me, I didn’t want to give a brighter light.”

“I have a father who was HPI and who was a very whimsical, very sunny person and so I wanted to tell this vision of people with high intellectual potential”, confides Alice Breugnot, on franceinfo.

Little by little, Alice Breugnot twists the notion of traditional polar and makes HPI a comedy detective series. “A thriller is a thriller and my series was sold on the Thursday evening thriller box on TF1. As there was this character that I really wanted to explore, and who came with all his energy and his comedy, with the comedy arrived little by little in the thriller. We tested on the first episodes how far we could go on the comedy. So, on the first four episodes of season 1, we are still in the run-in. And from the confinement, we had a lot of time to watch the episodes, to wonder what works, what does not work and also to wonder about what we could push. And from episode five, we really assumed the mix of genres completely: we manage to combine the two!”, exclaims Alice Breugnot.

Audrey Fleurot, who then arrives via the casting, then brings all her enthusiasm. But it was not for the actress who is imagined for this role: “Audrey Fleurot is not then in my head. In general, when I create characters, I do not have actors who appear. The characters belong only to me at the start I had as reference characters like that of Erin Brockovich. When we started casting and the idea of ​​Audrey Fleurot came up, then we thought it could really be her.” concludes the screenwriter.
