A new gun-related drama hit the United States on Monday, July 4, a national holiday. A parade taking place north of Chicago (United States) was interrupted by numerous gunshots. A movement of panic ensued, leaving the crowd petrified and lost in the face of the sound of gunfire. The surprise effect was total for the families who came in large numbers. The parade musicians were still playing, before realizing it wasn’t fireworks, but live fire.
Although it is not definitive, the toll is already very heavy, since six people have been killed, and 24 taken to hospital. “I saw someone on the ground holding their leg, and a girl was crying next to it. Then on the left, we saw at least three other people on the ground with blood”testifies a young woman who assisted at the scene. The assailant has still not been found, and the police are continuing their search.
