In Italy, rescuers have little hope of finding any survivors after part of the Marmolada glacier collapsed on Sunday July 3. At least seven deaths are to be deplored.

The Italian rescuers, aboard their helicopter, continue their work in search of new potential victims, all around Marmolada (Italy). Part of the glacier fell on Sunday July 3, causing a landslide over more than 2 kilometers. How many people died? The 16 vehicles parked at the bottom of the glacier have not moved since the tragedy.

The balance sheet could be heavier than announced. “The most important thing for us now is to know the exact number of people who are still prisoners of the glacier. Right now we have a helicopter equipped with drones flying over the area and shooting the terrain“, explains Gino Comelli, a high mountain rescuer. The tragedy was caused by unusual heat at this time of year: 10 degrees, at 3,000 m altitude.
