The event: Dominique Fils-Aimé

With three albums in four years, ranging from blues to jazz and soul, Montrealer Dominique Fils-Aimé has been offering her very personal reinterpretation of African-American music since 2018. In the show taken from the last album of his trilogy, Three Little Worlds, the queen of new soul leans resolutely on the side of jazz and her caressing voice blends perfectly with the instruments of the orchestra. Inspired music and velvet for the ears.

Yvan Murenzi

YellowStraps is the musical project now run alone by Yvan Murenzi – his brother Alban chose to leave the project after the release of their most recent album, Yellockdown Project. Born in Rwanda, raised in Uganda before finally settling in Belgium, the Murenzi brothers skillfully mix hip-hop, jazz, electro R&B and soul, a formula that Yvan intends to keep, while collaborating closely with bassist Victor Defort. Identified as a Belgian neo-soul prodigy by Les Inrockuptibles, YellowStraps dares with rich and unexpected compositions and arrangements. Not surprising to have seen the group in the first part of Louanges at the MTelus, on May 19th.
