Mandol’in Marseille Festival

France Bleu Provence is a partner of the Mandol’in Marseille Festival. In Marseille, the Mandoline in shambles, scholarly and popular!

In July 2021, it was the celebration for the hundred years of the opening of the mandolin class at the “Pierre Barbizet” Conservatory, bringing together for the occasion musicians from all over the world in a great Festival, under the sun from Marseille.

In 2022, the mandolin brings together apprentice musicians and accomplished artists.

Mandol’in Marseille Festival crystallizes in one week this desire to anchor in our region the ancestral practice of the “little lute”, to share with the public the creations of the VBD & Co Company and to federate around this dream of mandolin, legendary artists as well as musicians in apprenticeship whose vitality draws the best future for the instrument. For the 2022 edition, on the strength of a solid partnership with the Nuits de Fourvière, Mandol’in Marseille Festival offers itself the luxury of welcoming some of the greatest names in French music of recent decades.

The mandolin shines again with a thousand lights for this 2022 edition.

One of the great prides of Compagnie VBD & Co remains the recent creation of the Orchester de Mandoline des Minots de Marseille (OMMM) which will give its first concert on July 8 at the Théâtre Toursky.
Imagine fifty children from all parts of Marseille creating a veritable “Musical Feast” on stage, opening for the Valletti Quintetto & the Trio Uz de là! Baroque, classical, romantic, jazz, popular or contemporary, the mandolin is available as you wish.

The highlight of this programme, the visit to the GMEM of the Orchester National à Plectre de France under the baton of the talented and dynamic Marseille conductor Sébastien Boin.
The machine is launched, History is in motion and this year again, the expressive tremolos of the mandolin will caress the ears of Marseille!
