3.6 million overnight stays this year in Occitania is the estimate established by the Camping-Car Park network in its barometer of motorhome tourism. Occitania ranks third among the most popular regions for motorhomes, with 14.7% of holiday intentions next summer. Only Brittany (18.4%) and New Aquitaine (16.5) are ahead of it.
Within the Occitanie region, the department of Hérault is the favorite of motorhome owners, ahead of the Pyrénées-Orientales and Aveyron. For holidaymakers encountered in a motorhome area at the entrance to Palavas-les-Flots, the Hérault department has many advantages.
5 areas are located throughout the territory of Hérault, according to Olivier Coudrette, general manager of Camping-Car Park. A new one has just opened in Lamalou-les-Bains, 40 kilometers north of Béziers. “What interests people is the coast, says Olivier Coudrette. We have figures that are exploding year after year on Sérignan-Plage. 6500 nights.”
When you open an area, it hits straight away. There is a real effect. Olivier Coudrette
According to Camping-Car Park, between the months of June and September, the impact of the economic fallout generated by motorhome owners in the Hérault reaches 29.2 million euros. This figure is increased to 1.3 billion euros nationally. On average, a motorhome couple spends an average of €44 per day for local economic players, including craftsmen, traders or leisure activities.
A “house on wheels”
A simple badge opens the barrier to the 400 Camping-Car Park areas. For Olivier Coudrette, we focus on easy access to the areas, supplied with electricity, water, wifi and collection points for recycling. “They really feel at home,” adds the General Manager of the network.
Each year, nearly 560,000 French people go on vacation with their motorhome. The increase in fuel should limit the movement of motorhomes who will reduce the stages during their holidays.
