Assessment of COVID-19 in Quebec | 1193 new cases, no deaths

Quebec reported 1,193 additional COVID-19 cases on Saturday, but recorded no new virus-related deaths.

These new cases bring to 1,092,934 the number of Quebecers who have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

By Friday, 1,429 more infections had been reported. That day, Quebec had also officially reported seven new deaths. The number of deaths, however, remained unchanged on Saturday in the last 24 hours in Quebec, the province having recorded no new deaths linked to COVID-19.

In the health network, the number of patients hospitalized for or with COVID-19 continues to increase. According to the latest available data, those of Friday, there are currently 1313 people hospitalized, an increase of 19 patients compared to the previous day; 38 people are also in intensive care, a reduction of four beds in 48 hours.

According to the VaccinTrackerQC site, 8,371 additional doses of vaccine were administered Friday in the province, the vast majority of third or fourth doses, as has been the case for several weeks.

So far, nearly 87% of the population has received one dose, while more than 83.5% of Quebecers have received two. About 52.5% of people have received three doses, and just over 14.2% have now received four.

Among those aged 5 and over, 92% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 60% received a third dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 45% of Quebecers received a fourth dose.
