A man in his fifties was fished out by firefighters in the Scarpe, on the night of Friday July 1 to Saturday July 2 in Courchelettes, near Douai. He was in cardio-respiratory arrest. Emergency services, called around midnight, were unable to revive him.
A another man in his thirties was also in the water when help arrived. He was able to regain the bank by his own means, he was not injured.
It is not known what these men were doing in the water. The Douai public prosecutor’s office is in charge of the investigation.
