The 14-year-old teenager who stabbed to death in the center of Reims, another middle school student, educated at Saint-Joseph in Reims, in June 2021 was sentenced this Friday July 1 to 15 years in prison. The trial was held for three days behind closed doors at the Reims court.
In a tense and heavy atmosphere, the Reims court, in the person of the juvenile judge, delivered its judgment this Friday, July 1 around 5 p.m. This case involved a 14-year-old schoolboy who fatally stabbed another schoolboy, both of whom were educated at the Saint-Joseph establishment in Reims.
15 years of imprisonment were ordered by the judge. With continued detention of the aggressor. Accompanied by a ban on carrying weapons for 15 years, obligation of socio-judicial follow-up for seven years. An additional four years in prison are incurred in the event of non-compliance with follow-up care. A file entry automated judiciary of offenders sexual and violent (FIJAIS) has been requested. And damages will have to be paid to the civil parties.
At the end of the hearing, the mother of Eloi Ann, Valérie Delattre spoke to the press. “No sentence is satisfactory, but 15 years is satisfactory, it’s good, it was necessary”. Her husband Olivier added: “No less than that was needed. No sentence will erase our suffering. Our condemnation is this suffering that accompanies us every day, all the time. Fifteen years is satisfying but it will not appease us. The lack of him is permanent”. They had asked for firmness in justice before the trial.
Before the deliberation, the parents of the accused were stressed, their faces drawn. The victim’s parents and sister were present. They say “having taken life, nothing will be able to rejoice them or give them back their son”. The accused in black and white jogging was stunned, head bowed after the announcement. While the victim’s family fell into their arms in tears, the parents of the accused remained motionless as if frozen by the announcement.
Eloi-Ann, the schoolboy killed considered as “very sociable, dedicated, humble, helpful, and always smiling” by his relatives, had never recovered from the stab wound he received in the temple (apparently due to a mockery addressed to his comrade who had posted a rap video on a social network).
The facts took place rue Henri Menu in Reims, on June 2, 2021, around noon. That day, the 14-year-old schoolboy was stabbed by another teenager of the same age. Hospitalized in serious condition at the CHU de Reims, following, in particular, particularly serious injuries to the head. He unfortunately died of his injuries on August 21, 2021.
