Assessment of COVID-19 in Quebec | 34 more hospitalizations, 13 deaths

(Montreal) Quebec reports Thursday 13 new deaths attributed to COVID-19, in addition to a further increase in hospitalizations.

There are currently 1294 hospitalizations, an increase of 34 compared to the previous day. Forty-two people are in intensive care, up from seven.

A total of 6,644 health care workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.

The death toll now stands at 15,589.

The Ministry of Health reports 1,568 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,090,312 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 233,137 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 192,694 positives. For Wednesday, 784 tests were reported, including 705 positive.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 11,757 analyzes were carried out on Wednesday and that the positivity rate is 15.8%.

As for vaccination, 6535 doses have been administered in Quebec in the last 24 hours.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 55% received a third dose and 15% obtained a fourth dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 45% sought a fourth dose.
