The announcement was made on Monday, the second day of the Dubai Airshow. Since ALC is an American company, the A220s should in principle be assembled in Mobile, Alabama.

The main assembly line for the former Bombardier C Series is located in Mirabel, in the Laurentians.

This letter of intent signed by the American aircraft rental company also provides for the purchase of 75 A321s, four A330s and seven A350Fs – the cargo version of the aircraft.

If the contract is finalized by the end of the year, it was a fourth order for the A220 since the beginning of the year. Last April, Airbus landed a contract for 20 A220-300s, the largest aircraft in the family.

An order for an aircraft was registered last June and at the end of September, Italia Transporto Aereo, an air carrier born from the ashes of Alitalia, had ordered seven A220s in addition to receiving 15 others from ALC.

The program is controlled by the European giant while the Quebec state holds a 25% stake. Airbus is working to accelerate the production rate of the A220. The multinational aims to assemble 14 per month, for a total of 168 annual deliveries, to Mirabel and Alabama around 2025.
