(Métabetchouan–Lac-À-La-Croix) A collision left one dead and four injured on Wednesday in Métabetchouan–Lac-à-la-Croix, in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, when a vehicle drove into the which was immobilized in front of him on Route 169.

The accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of 2e rang Ouest while the crashed vehicle was immobilized behind another car which was waiting to be able to make a left turn.
Four people were in the second vehicle which was rammed.
“These four people were all taken to hospital. Unfortunately, the death of one of the passengers was confirmed upon arrival at the hospital,” said Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The victim would be a minor, but this information could not be confirmed immediately.
As for the driver who is at the origin of the collision, the latter was also transported to the hospital, but there is no fear for his life.
“There is a road closure to allow the reconstructionist assigned to the scene to investigate the causes and circumstances of this collision,” said Sergeant Tremblay. The road was still closed to traffic in the area shortly after 8 p.m.
The collision occurred in an area where the maximum permitted speed is 80 km/h.
No hypothesis was immediately favored to explain the tragedy. The SQ investigation is continuing.
