Benoît Costil immediately refuted and decided to take legal action. Today, his lawyer announces the filing ofa complaint for defamation with the Paris Court of Justice”so that his honor may be preserved”.
A complaint for defamation
On France Bleu Gironde, Me David Bousidan confirms “a filing of a complaint against X with the constitution of a civil party”intervened ago “a little over a month”. This complaint was filed for public defamation with the Paris court “because this court has specialized chambers for press offences”. According to the lawyer, Benoit Costil “refutes with force and conviction” having said the words mentioned. He has never “had the slightest racist behavior towards his teammates or towards anyone else” continues David Bousidan. It is for this reason that he decided to file a complaint “so that his honor may be preserved”.

“The judicial machine is launched” affirms the advice of Benoît Costil, the investigating magistrate has “absolutely full latitude to hear all the parties he wishes to hear”. “Surprising things in the file”
For David Bousidan, “there are things that are a little surprising in this file”. He points the finger at amazing accusations from the supporters: “Until proven otherwise, supporters are people who support their team and are not there to create disorder within their own team.” There are also questions about the reasons for such accusations : “In the case of the match against Montpellier, we have accusations that were made in the middle of a match. It’s true that we wonder about this way of doing things. We wonder why. What is it? who motivated a person to take the microphone and make such accusations? Does the lawyer see it as a set-up, a conspiracy against his client?
An investigation within the club?
Has the Girondins de Bordeaux club also taken up this case? Is an investigation against Benoît Costil underway internally? “We have no information on this point, we do not know what is going on inside” assures the lawyer.
