17 years in prison for the Gard winemaker accused of killing a scrap metal thief with a gun

The 66-year-old retired winegrower, accused of having shot dead on his farm in Bezouce (Gard) in 2014 a 21-year-old young man (originally from Meynes) who was stealing vine stakes from him and then of having set fire to the body of the victim in his vehicle, was sentenced this Wednesday to 17 years in prison, by the Court of Assizes of Nîmes. 30 months in prison also for his wife.

The Advocate General had requested 16 years in prison against the husband for intentional homicide and 2 years suspended for his wife for complicity in the modification of the crime scene.
