VIDEO. Clément Beaune wants abortion to become part of European law

The Minister Delegate for Europe and Deputy for Paris Clément Beaune was the guest of “Sunday in politics”, sunday June 26. By revoking the right to abortion, it leaves each of the 50 states of the country the choice to authorize or prohibit abortion. “I think that the basis of European law must be enriched: the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy, the right to abortion. This must be in the charter of fundamental rights. I had defended this idea several months ago”says Clément Beaune. He believes that this issue is a political debate that will take time.

Ukraine has obtained the green light from Brussels (Belgium) and the European Parliament to join the Union European, but will it be a priority? “She will not pass in front of the others. There are countries which are already candidates today, countries in the Western Balkans. I am thinking of Montenegro, Serbia. We are in discussion with Albania or North Macedonia. For more than twenty years they have been making enormous – still insufficient – ​​efforts to fight against corruption, the independence of their media… to bring themselves up to European level (…). There is somehow no skip the line”, says the minister.
