The emergency services received a call around 2:15 p.m. for smoke coming from the building located at the corner of rue de la Montagne and rue Saint-Antoine Ouest.

“We will still be there for a few hours so traffic in the area will be disrupted,” warned section chief Matthew Griffith around 4:30 p.m. Rue Saint-Antoine is closed between Peel and Lucien-L’Allier, and rue de la Montagne is closed between Saint-Jacques and avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal.

The cause of the fire remains to be determined, and investigators have been dispatched to the scene, Griffith said, noting that the disused building has been engulfed in flames in the past.
