The strong tramontana is an aggravating factor. Since noon, the firefighters of the departmental fire and rescue service of the Pyrénées-Orientales have been mobilized on two homes in Opoul and to Rivesaltes.
Threatened homes in Rivesaltes
Around noon, an outbreak broke out north of Rivesaltes, near the railway and the Chemin de Vingrau. Six teams of firefighters specializing in particular in the protection of homes are on site. For the moment, they have not carried out any evacuation, the fire is not yet under control at midday.
In order to facilitate the intervention of the emergency services, the train traffic is cut at least until 3 p.m. between Narbonne and Perpignan
Expected air resources
Another fire started almost at the same time, near Opoul. Fifty firefighters battle against the flames in the garrigue. The Sdis66 requested the intervention of aerial means to help them quickly circumscribe the outbreak, fanned by the strong tramontana.
