Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, Roberto Luongo, Daniel Alfredsson, player Riikka Sallinen and builder Herb Carnegie have been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Henrik Sedin is the Vancouver Canucks’ all-time leader with 830 assists, 1,070 points, 1,330 games played and 369 power-play points. He added 78 points in 105 playoff games.
If Henrik was the setter on one of hockey’s most dangerous lines, Daniel Sedin was the scorer. His 393 goals place him at the top of Canucks scoring, and he ranks second with 648 assists, 1,041 points, 1,306 games played and 367 points on the power play. In 102 playoff games, he had 71 points.
Luongo started his career with the New York Islanders and finished it with the Florida Panthers, but his best years were on the Canadian west coast. He sits fourth in goalie history with 489 wins.
Eligible for induction since 2017, Alfredsson has scored 444 goals and added 713 assists, for 1,157 points in 18 NHL seasons. The former Ottawa Senators captain added 100 points in 124 playoff games to that total.
Sallinen played 16 seasons with the Finland women’s national team. She won the bronze medal at the Nagano Games in 1998 and at the Pyeongchang Games in 2018. She added to her harvest, in 2019, a silver medal at the World Women’s Hockey Championships.
Carnegie, who died in March 2012 at the age of 92, was often mentioned as one of the best black hockey players to never play in the NHL. Following a long career in senior hockey, he founded Future Aces in 1955, one of the first hockey schools in Canada.
