It was around 5:25 a.m. that the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported having been called to the scene of the event, on rue Côte-Vertu, near rue Cardinal.
Once at the scene, the police located the victim, a 62-year-old man. He had been stabbed in the upper body with a knife, and had significant injuries. The victim was therefore rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is considered “critical”.
In the aftermath, a 21-year-old man – who would probably be the victim’s son – was arrested by the police.
“According to the first information gathered from witnesses, a conflict would have broken out between the son and his father,” confirmed on Friday the agent and spokesperson for the SPVM, Gabriella Youakim.
One thing is certain: a security perimeter has been erected in the area and investigators have been sent to the scene. They will try to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this armed attack. Potential witnesses in the neighborhood could in particular be met. Citizens are asked to avoid the area for the time being.
