This Sunday, November 14, 2021 in London took place the famous Remembrance Sunday, an annual event – which takes place every second Sunday of November – which salutes the contribution of servicemen and women servicemen during the two world wars. A solemn ceremony attended by the British royal family, with the exception of Elizabeth II.
Placed on the third balcony of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kate Middleton was placed in the center alongside the wife of Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles as well as Sophie of Wessex. For this major event, the Duchess of Cambridge was dressed in a black military jacket with a white collar, branded Alexander McQueen, accessorized by a few red flowers on the left side, a large black hat and earrings in diamonds and pearls. From the balcony, the latter watched her husband Prince William and Prince Charles laying wreaths at the Whitehall War Memorial. Shortly before 11 a.m., the mother of George (8), Charlotte (6) and Louis (3) shared a few words with Camilla Parker Knowles and the Countess of Wessex before showing a look that was both respectful but also tense (see slideshow). A rather unusual pout for the latter.
Elizabeth II, disappointed by his absence
Until now determined to attend the Remembrance Sunday ceremony, Elizabeth II had to do wrong at the last minute. On the advice of doctors, the monarch had to give up his trip due to his still fragile health. As a reminder, the latter only missed six other cenotaph ceremonies during her long reign. The last time she was away was in 1999.
“The Queen, having hurt her back, has decided that she will not be able to attend today’s Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph. Her Majesty is disappointed to miss the ceremony“, indicated the Buckingham Palace, this Sunday, in a press release reported by AFP. It must be said that this ceremony is very important for the queen since during the Second World War, she served as a driver and mechanic of the Army.
