Several parliamentary groups returned to the National Assembly on Wednesday June 22. It now remains to name the person who will take over from Richard Ferrand at the head of the presidency of the National Assembly.
Wednesday June 22 marked the second day of return to the National Assembly, in particular for the National Rally and its 89 deputies. They are ten times more numerous than five years ago. Delivery driver, carer, temporary worker at La Poste, many of them are taking their first steps in the National Assembly. Aged 79, José Gonzalez is the dean of the deputies. According to Marine Le Pen, her group is the most representative of the French.
The Renaissance deputies wanted to show that they were more numerous than their RN colleagues. The head of state’s party posed with a smile alongside their newly elected president, Aurore Bergé. As for Les Républicains, fewer in number, the family photo ended with timid applause. Olivier Marleix was elected president of the LR group. It now remains to be seen who will be the successor to Richard Ferrand at the head of the presidency of the National Assembly. Minister Yaël Braun-Pivet has been nominated as a candidate for LREM.
