Wednesday, June 22, is the national day of reflection on organ donation. 34% families oppose the removal of an organ from a deceased relative. To convince them, the sister of a donor testifies.

Raja is a Spanish teacher in a college. “I have been campaigning for organ donation and for people to talk about it, since the death of my brother in 2016”she explains. His brother died following a serious road accident. “He was a generous person, who loved life. (…) I always said to myself that he would have donated a kidney during his lifetime, so for me, it was obvious”explains Raja, who adds that his brother “was able to support several people since there were five organs that were transplanted”.

“Everything is anonymous, we just know if people are fine. A lot of people are scared, always say they don’t want to give their eyes. It’s because they don’t necessarily know that it’s not the eyes, but the cornea”explains Raja. “Don’t be afraid to discuss these topics”, she concludes.
