Léon Marchand fell on stronger, Tuesday, in the person of Kristof Milak, who signed a new world record on this final of the 200 meters butterfly in Budapest.
It was supersonic! Up front, a broad-shouldered Hungarian led the way. Kristof Milak won gold and more in front of his Duna Arena crowd on Tuesday, June 21, as he improved his 200-meter butterfly world record by almost four tenths.
In a canonical time of 1″50″34, he put several lengths to his runner-up of the day, a certain Léon Marchand. The Toulousain offered himself a new charm in this second final after winning gold in the 400 meter medley. The icing on the cake, he atomized his own French record set the day before.
If he fell on stronger than him, the Frenchman, who did not stop at the microphone of the media because of a semi-final of the 200 meters medley which awaited him a few minutes later, is more than never becoming one of the best swimmers of his generation. At 20, he signs a 100% of podiums, for the moment, on these Hungarian Worlds.
