pushed to suicide after participating in “Nightmare in the kitchen”, a cook files a complaint!

It was in June 2020 that the public discovered the trio of sisters formed by Mélane, Mylène and Sévèrine. With three strong, completely different characters, they gave Philippe Etchebest and his team some thread to sew in Kitchen nightmare. Thus, he went out of his way to patch up the sisters from the Bouches du Rhône in order to save their establishment.

Finally, the restaurant is still up and running two years later. That said, it’s not easy. “There are still jealous people who leave us bad reviews on Google or TripAdvisor, saying that it’s inedible, disgusting, and that we should be ashamed of having made Cauchemar in the kitchen, when they are not never come to eat there…” admitted Mélanie in the columns of Tele-Leisure.

But it didn’t stop there as the messages from detractors sometimes went much further. “We were attacked directly on our physique, we were told that we could jump from the top of a bridge, do cosmetic surgery… It was very, very far. Of course, we lodged a complaint with the police. But we knew it would be dismissed and it is. Now we live with it, it no longer affects us (…) The psychologist called us to find out if we had experienced the broadcast well, with all the comments we were receiving. Personally, I told him: ‘it’s like that’. We get criticized, but she can’t do anything about it…“said the cook.

Regarding her relationship with Mylène and Séverine, Mélanie concluded: “Today things are better. The show has helped us a lot. There are exchanges that we don’t see on the air, but when the chef spoke to all 3 of us on the show, that lasted ten minutes when in reality it was for 2 hours. We had received a message from our mother asking us to stop tearing ourselves apart. Inevitably, these are striking words that hurt us, that we keep in mind and that push us to change”. All’s well that ends well then.
