He may be tough in most of his movies, but that doesn’t mean Jean Reno can’t let his emotions show. The great French actor has already proven it in the past and has just done it again this Monday, June 20 at the press conference for the series. All those things we didn’t say to each otherat the Monte-Carlo Festival, when he mentioned his father.
An emotion, linked to his father, which does not date from yesterday. Indeed, in 2014, in the Unexpected parenthesis on France 2the comedian was already letting tears run down his face when talking about his dad. “I miss him… It’s obvious that I miss him and my mother. I will miss them all my life”he confessed very moved to Frédéric Lopez before adding: “I couldn’t deal with my father, he was extremely afraid for me. And then my determination wasn’t based on anything… Once that’s said, it feels good”.
His difficult relationship with his father
His father always had a priori on the world of cinema and those who work in this environment. Jean Reno also regretted this character trait in his father: “I can’t talk to my father about it, he’s going to say shut up. For him, it was difficult to manage the people we saw on TV. These people couldn’t be part of his family. Not his son… I guess he was devaluing me. I think he couldn’t give me that importance.”.
Several years later, the actor was once again overwhelmed with emotion when the journalists of Telestar, present at the press conference of the Monte-Carlo Festival, questioned him about his relationship with his father. “My father didn’t talk much, he didn’t show affection, tenderness towards me, because he was from the 19th century. But at the same time, he built me, he built me…”confided Jean Reno very moved before asking to “move on”after letting out a long sigh.
