The standoff continues between Belarus and the European Union. Thousands of migrants are still stranded at the border in freezing cold. The United Nations speak of an orchestrated instrumentalization of human beings.
Attempt to end the migration crisis by limiting flights bringing migrants from transit countries to Belarus. This is the proposal of the European Union and Turkey is the first country to set up this system. It is now forbidden for Iraqis, Syrians or Yemenis to take a plane from its soil to Belarus. “We will continue to work with airlines to stop human trafficking in Belarus”, testifies Dana Spinant, spokesperson for the European Commission.
Iraq has offered to repatriate its stranded nationals who wish to return. But the crisis is far from over, 2,000 migrants are still massed under freezing temperatures. “I don’t want to go back to Iraq. I’m ready to go anywhere. I think I would like to go to Germany or even Belgium”, assures the father of a family of Iraqi exiles.
