A true phenomenon of athletic walking, the 44-year-old sportsman never succeeded in becoming Olympic champion despite his attempts, but in 2017 he won the title of world walking champion.
Father of two children and known for his kindness, Yohann Diniz however slipped on October 22 and he is paying the consequences today. Prosecuted for “driving under the influence of an alcoholic state”, “contempt of a person holding public authority”“driving a motor vehicle during the precautionary retention of the driving license” and “putting a vehicle into circulation despite the immobilization prescribed by a reporting agent”, the champion appeared yesterday before the judicial court of Reims (Marne ).
Yohann Diniz verbally attacked three gendarmes
The one who admitted to having lived through difficult times in the past was appearing on a prior admission of guilt and the court sentenced to two months suspended prison sentence for traffic offenses and insults. Added to this is a 3 month driving license suspension as well as a fine of 135 € and 150 € damages to the three gendarmes who suffered insults.
On October 22, 2021, Yohann Diniz was arrested on the road by the gendarmes and his blood alcohol test proves to be above the legal limit. Taken to the gendarmerie brigade of Taissy, three gendarmes accuse him of insulting them. A contempt “particularly contemptuous” according to the judge, in remarks reported by The Parisian.
After his conviction, Yohann Diniz, present yesterday in court, did not wish to make a statement to the media.
