Emmanuel Macron is on the diplomatic front, between European enlargement and war in Ukraine. At the head of the presidency of the European Union, the head of state went to Moldova, a country bordering Ukraine, and pleaded for its integration into European circles.

Emmanuel Macron visits two countries in just over 24 hours to provide support and calm the beginnings of controversy. He wanted to show his solidarity with the 500 French soldiers present on a NATO base. Tuesday, June 14, he had notably dined with them. The next day, he took the opportunity to greet the American, Belgian or Italian soldiers also on the spot. Alongside the Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis, the President wanted to show France’s support for this country bordering Ukraine.

He also sent messages to kyiv to try to pave the way for negotiations. “At some point, when we have helped as much as possible to resist, when, I hope, Ukraine will have won and especially when the fire can stop, we will have to negotiate” with Russia, he said. An attempt to clarify certain points for the French president, criticized in kyiv in recent days after saying he did not want to humiliate Russia.
