Three and a half months after the death of Achille and César, 7 and 5 years old, in Vaudricourt, near Béthune, their father committed suicide in prison, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. It was indicted for murdersuspected of having set fire to the car where the children were.
Discovered near the burned car
At the material time, the father had custody of his sons for the weekend and had to take them to school. During the fire, he had been discovered near the vehicle, seriously injured. The man was hospitalized, and on May 3, the improvement in his state of health allowed him to be placed in police custody.
So there will be no trial
He was then incarcerated in the psychiatric unit of the penitentiary center of Sequedin, where his lifeless body was found. With his death, the proceedings will therefore be extinguished, there will be no trial. The mother of the two boys had asked for sole custody of the children, but her ex-companion had obtained custody rights for the weekend in summary proceedings. A hearing of the family court judge was to take place in June.
