Quebec now has 132 confirmed cases of monkeypox

Vaccination against monkeypox will be expanded over the next few days as Public Health has reported 126 cases in Montreal since the virus first arrived a few weeks ago.

The monkeypox vaccine was reserved for people who had contact with people infected with the virus, but now it will be offered to “men who plan to travel to Montreal to have sex with other men”, a indicated the acting national director of public health of Quebec, Dr. Luc Boileau, while he was accompanied by the regional director of public health of Montreal, Dr. Mylène Drouin, during a press briefing in Montreal.

Dr. Boileau pointed out that 3,000 doses of the vaccine had been administered so far out of a total of 40,000 doses available.
