At the end of the afternoon, Gérard Lopez the president of the club came out of the DNCG, without a word. Also present at the headquarters of the Professional Football League, the general manager Thomas Jacquemier, the strategic adviser James Stevens, and the lawyer Laurent Cotret were interviewed for over an hour. A few minutes later, before 7 p.m., the National Football League (LFP) communicated the decisions concerning the clubs auditioned today. The Girondins appeal
In a press release, the management of the Navy and White write “take note of the decision… with dismay” and announce to appeal. “This brutal decision deprives the club of continuing to implement the strategy of cleaning up the financial situation”. The club explains that it presented “the guarantee of the re-engagement of the majority shareholder in the amount of 10 million euros, an agreement with the holders of the debt, as well as offers to sell some players, the cumulative amount of which exceeds the objectives set by the Commission”. The statement concludes with his words “the club remains confident in its ability to demonstrate the solidity of its project for the 2022/2023 season. The time of the call will allow it to finalize new solutions to obtain its maintenance in L2”.
